SEO Basics Part 1 – On Page SEO
Dominate your competitors with On Page SEO
What is Search Engine Optimization? Why Is It Important?
Search Engine Optimization is essential for your website to rank well for a specific keyword that you are targeting. When it comes to SEO, there are 2 things that you need to take note of: On-Page and Off Page SEO.
In this hubpage, I will discuss on the basics of On Page SEO for the purpose of a WordPress blog as it is more commonly used. On the other hand, most of the techniques which are covered in this hubpage can be applied for other platforms as well. I will be dividing the layout of this hubpage into 3 sections: Plug-in, Content and Image.
Plug-in Section
Once you have installed your WordPress blog, install the All in One SEO Pack to optimize your blog for search engines.
For the benefit of this On-Page SEO illustration, I will be selecting my keyword phrase in advance. The keyword that I will be using for this case study is “how to build an affiliate site”.
Here’s a screenshot of how All in One SEO Pack looks like when it is installed:
Remember to include your keyword phrase in the Title, Description and Keywords section of the plug-in.
Content Section
Here’s a sample how you should structure the content layout:
If you click on the Paragraph tab, you will see Heading 1, 2 and 3. Use Heading 1 for the title of your post followed by Heading 2 for your subtitles by highlighting the phrase. Heading 3 is not necessary.
Here’s how you should structure your content:
- For the first 50 words of your post, you should include your keyword phrase once and bold it.
- Include your keyword phrase in every 100 words of your post thereafter.
- For the last 50 words of your post, include your keyword phrase once and italic it.
- Finally, include some links in your post to link out to authority sites like Wikipedia and others.
- Your keyword density should be between 1 to 4%. As a general rule of thumb, if your article contains 500 words, your keyword phrase should appear 5 to 6 times.
Image Section
Here’s a screenshot of the add image window:
Under the Title and Alternate Text fill, you should add in your keyword phrase as well.
With that, you are done.

Flood Your Websites With Visitors
What is SEO? Why is it important for you to master it?
SEO is the short form for Search Engine Optimization and it is important to master it if you want to have a good ranking for your website. Off Page SEO is responsible for driving lots of targeted traffic to your website which will ultimately lead to sales if you targeted the right buyer keywords.
I have written a hubpage on On Page SEO and now I will go on to Off Page SEO. In any case, if you are looking for some serious Off Page SEO training, you should get Rapid Profit Formula by Matt Carter which explains everything in a simple and easy to understand structure.
Moving on, I will cover some basic and effective strategies to get you started in Off Page SEO. Topics that will be covered include Blog Commenting, Forum Posting, Directory Links, Article Links, Classified Ads and Video Links.
Blog Commenting
When it comes to blog commenting, there are no hard and fast rules. However, you must remember to leave an intelligent comment and make sure that it isrelevant to the topic in question.
- Your comment should be at least 3 to 4 sentences long and not some simple one liner like "Thanks for sharing." or "Thank you." which may look like spam.
- Try to put your keyword phrase as an anchor text in the body of your comment whenever it is possible. Eg: I like the way you design your blog. You may want to learn more about (keyword) here. Regards, Ed.
- Always look at the other comments to see whether anyone has put their keyword phrase successfully into the body of their comment before trying to do it. Otherwise, you may risk having your comment deleted.
- Another good way to leave a comment would be the signature method:
Eg: Edmund, Author of keyword blog
Or Edmund, Engineer, http://domainname.com
Forum Posting
A good way to engage your potential customers is to participate in forums relating to your niche and provide valuable answers to solve their problems. Why?
- It helps to develop your credibility and authority in your niche.
- You can expand your list of subscribers to your site in the long term.
- People will trust you more when they visit your site.
Some things to take note before participating in forums:
- Read the forum guildlines first.
- Do not post similar questions which have been answered.
- Provide useful solutions and do not go about leaving your links everywhere which will most likely result in your account being deleted. I mean this is really silly and I have seen a lot of people doing it.
Ok, that sums up Forum Posting.
Directory Links
Submitting your sites to directories is another good way to gain exposure. Go toDirectory Critic and take a look at the relevant directories that you can submit to.
If you have a huge budget for promotion purposes, you submit your sites to paid directories like Yahoo Directory, Best of the Web and others.
Article Links
Article Marketing is a popular way to spread word of your site through writing premium content and submitting them to article directories like ezinearticles, articlebase, articledashboard and many more.
You will automate the submission process by using paid services like Unique Article Wizard and Submit Your Article.
Target One Keyword at a time when it comes to writing articles.
Classified Ads
You can get Free Ads from websites like US Free Ads which has lots of visitors looking for services everyday.
Video Links
Conclusion
When it comes to Off Page SEO, there is really no fixed method. If one of the methods is working out very well for you, you should do more of it. Most importantly, you should rinse and repeat what works and have some links from a variety of IP addresses and different sources.
If you would like to learn more about Off-Page SEO, I would suggest investing in Matt Carter's Rapid Profit Formula which will cover even more techniques to outrank your competitors and get more sales.
